Wipe the jaws and the beam clean before each use. Store it in the case with the jaws closed, and take the battery out if it is going to sit unused for months.

A digital caliper with a glass sensor, so the reading holds when the workshop does not.

0 to 150 mm, 0.01 mm resolution, ±0.02 mm accuracy, IP54, in hardened stainless steel with a spare battery and a hard case.

A 0 to 150 mm digital caliper that reads to 0.01 mm and is accurate to ±0.02 mm, which is the range most workshop and fitting work sits in.

The sensor is glass rather than copper, which is what keeps the reading stable as the temperature and the humidity move around it.

It measures outside, inside and depth, switches between millimetres and inches, and zeroes anywhere on the scale for a differential reading.

Auto-on when the jaws open, auto-off after five minutes, running on one CR2032 with a spare in the case.

Caliper Measuring Tool

The sensor is the part worth paying attention to. Most calipers at this size use a copper capacitive sensor, and a copper sensor drifts with temperature, humidity and nearby magnetism. This one uses glass, which is what keeps a reading repeatable across a working day rather than across a minute.

Caliper Measuring Tool

±0.02 mm is the number to plan around. That is the tolerance you can hold when something has to fit, seal or seat, and it is a different job from a steel rule.

Caliper Measuring Tool

The display is large and lit clearly enough to read in strong sun or in a dim corner, and the buttons take a deliberate press rather than a brush, which matters when the tool is in a pocket with everything else.

Caliper Measuring Tool

The beam is hardened stainless and the housing is zinc alloy, so the slide stays smooth and the jaws keep their position rather than rocking as the tool wears.

Caliper Measuring Tool

Zeroing anywhere on the scale is the feature people use most once they know it is there: set zero on a reference face and every reading afterwards is a difference rather than an absolute.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Caliper Measuring Tool?

A caliper measuring tool is a device used to measure the dimensions of an object accurately. It consists of two jaws, one fixed and one movable, which can be adjusted to fit around the object being measured. The tool provides precise measurements in a variety of units, such as inches or millimeters.

Why is a Caliper Measuring Tool important in precision measurements?

A Caliper Measuring Tool is essential for precision measurements due to its ability to measure both inside and outside dimensions, as well as depths, with high accuracy. It offers more precise readings than traditional measuring tools like rulers or tape measures.

What are the common types of Caliper Measuring Tools available?

Common types of Caliper Measuring Tools include digital calipers, dial calipers, and vernier calipers. Digital calipers display measurements on an electronic screen, while dial and vernier calipers have analog displays.

Can a Digital Caliper be used for both metric and imperial measurements?

Yes, a Digital Caliper is versatile and can measure in both metric (millimeters) and imperial (inches) units, making it suitable for various applications worldwide.

How can I ensure accurate measurements with an Electronic Vernier?

To ensure accurate measurements with an Electronic Vernier, ensure that the caliper's jaws are clean and free from debris, apply gentle pressure when taking measurements, and zero the caliper before each use.

Is a Caliper Measuring Tool suitable for measuring round objects like pipes or rods?

Yes, a Caliper Measuring Tool is well-suited for measuring round objects like pipes or rods. Its jaws can grip cylindrical surfaces, providing accurate diameter measurements.

Can Digital Calipers be used in wet or humid conditions?

While some Digital Calipers are water-resistant, it is generally advisable to keep electronic calipers away from wet or humid environments to prevent damage to the electronic components.

Can an Electronic Vernier measure both external and internal dimensions?

Yes, an Electronic Vernier can measure both external dimensions, like the length or width of an object, and internal dimensions, like the diameter of a hole or bore.

Are Caliper Measuring Tools suitable for measuring small parts or components?

Yes, Caliper Measuring Tools are ideal for measuring small parts or components with precision, making them invaluable in industries like jewelry making and watch repair.

Can a Digital Caliper be connected to a computer or data collection system?

Yes, some Digital Calipers come with a data output port or Bluetooth connectivity, allowing them to be connected to a computer or data collection system for recording measurements digitally.

What can it measure?

Outside dimensions, inside dimensions and depth, in millimetres or inches.

How accurate is it?

±0.02 mm, or 0.001 inch, with 0.01 mm resolution and 0.01 mm repeatability.

Why a glass sensor rather than copper?

A glass sensor is far less affected by temperature, humidity and magnetism, so the reading holds steady through a working day.

Does it switch between metric and imperial?

Yes, with one button, and it keeps the reading while it converts.

Can I zero it part way along the scale?

Yes. Press zero at any position and everything after that is measured as a difference from there.

How long does the battery last?

It runs on one 3V CR2032 and switches itself off after five minutes idle. A spare cell is in the case.

Is it waterproof?

It is IP54, which means dust protected and splash resistant. It is not made to be submerged or used in standing water.

What temperature can it work at?

0 to 40 °C, as stated by the maker.

Does it come with a case?

Yes, a hard plastic case, along with the spare battery and the manual.

What is the material?

Stainless Steel.

What is the resolution?

0.01mm/0.0005”.

What is the accuracy?

±0.02mm/0.001”.

What is the repeatability?

0.01mm/0.0005〞.

What is the battery?

3V CR2032 Lithium Battery.

What is the operation temperature?

0℃- 40℃/32-104℉.

How much is delivery?

Delivery anywhere in Australia is $27.50, and it is free once your order reaches $100.

Is there an express option?

Yes. Express delivery is offered at the checkout for a flat $27.50 on any order, including orders that already qualify for free delivery.

How long does delivery take?

Five to seven days across Australia.

Do you deliver Australia wide?

Yes, anywhere in Australia, including Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

Getting a repeatable reading out of a digital caliper

3 min read Industry Tools Company Australia

A caliper is only as good as the reading you can repeat. Two people measuring the same shaft should get the same number, and if they do not, the tool is usually not the reason.

Clean first. A chip of swarf on a jaw face is worth more than the tool's whole error budget, and it is the most common cause of a measurement that will not settle.

Zero before every job, with the jaws closed and dry. Then take the measurement with light, even pressure. A caliper is a lever, and leaning on it will read small on an outside measurement and large on an inside one.

Let the part and the tool sit at the same temperature. Steel moves with heat, and a part straight off a machine is not the size it will be in twenty minutes. This is the reason the glass sensor matters: it takes one of the two variables out of the problem.

Use the right face. Outside jaws for outside dimensions, the inside knives for a bore, the depth rod for a step. The blade edges are for scribing on some calipers and not on this one, so treat the jaws as measuring faces only.

For a differential measurement, zero on the reference rather than doing arithmetic afterwards. It is faster and it removes the mistake.

Store it closed, in the case, with the battery out if it is going into a drawer for the winter. A leaking cell is the usual end of a caliper that was otherwise fine.
